The Friends of Basrah Museum’s current work on the Basrah Museum Project is supported by a large Cultural Protection Fund grant awarded in December 2016 and extended in January 2019. The grant funding is managed by the British Council in partnership with the Department for Digital, Culture Media & Sport (DCMS).

The first phase of the project was made possible through the generosity of the following donors without whom the installation of the Basrah Gallery would not have been possible. The Basrah Museum officially opened its doors on 27 September 2016 as a result of donations and support from the following corporations, foundations and individuals and the Trustees welcome new and continuing donations to support their work:

The FOBM Trustees express their appreciation to the Culture Protection Fund for the grant for the completion of the Basrah Museum. 

With the award of the CPF grant, work on the FOBM CPF project commenced January 2017 and was completed in March 2020.
